Job Description

Role:

Reporting to the head of V&V and working alongside our existing Test Infrastructure group, this role is being created to accelerate the deployment of new test equipment within SCSC.  We already use a continuous integration and test approach to keep our code base in good condition, but commercial success has brought many new opportunities and our test systems now need to scale and grow.

The Test Infrastructure group is already responsible for supporting engineers across SCSC, by providing test equipment, advice and support to enable engineers to test their code. The wider SCSC team is developing Wi-Fi and Bluetooth silicon and software for mobile phones and other portable devices, so Test Infrastructure look after more than 30 RF screened facilities, anechoic RF test chambers, FPGA emulators and hundreds of Linux PC based test systems to support their work.

In addition to strong technical skills in setting up and supporting Linux based PCs and networks, we are also looking for an engineer who can provide first rate customer service – our customers are the wider SCSC engineering team and we need someone who can keep this broad base of technical experts working efficiently.

Required:

  • Linux system administration experience

  • Strong computer networking skills, including configuring wireless networks

  • Experience in testing electronic systems and software

  • Pro-active and friendly approach

Advantageous:

  • Experience in working in a support role, providing a service to internal or external customers

  • Familiarity with software build and test automation tools e.g. Jenkins

  • Python scripting expertise

  • Experience in working with radio frequency systems, using screened and anechoic facilities

  • 3D CAD/Scanning/Printing expertise

  • Android expertise

Samsung Cambridge Solutions Centre is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless or sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, religion or belief.
